I Used to Love the Huffington Post

Webcam Photos I have a bad relationship with the Huffington Post. And yet, I keep coming back.

At this point, I think I’m doing it out of habit. I used to frequent it several times a day at home, work, and even on vacations. It kept me updated with up-to-date news of all subjects and great copy. I’d even tell my friends how wonderful the Huffington Post was. The future of newspaper was before us!

Now…Has anyone else been there for the good times and seen them tragically ripped away before our eyes? I’ve been watching a credible online newspaper turn into a tabloid for quite some time. It’s upsetting.

There should be someone with an ounce of maturity writing these articles. I understand the Entertainment and Style sections don’t need to be dead-pan serious, but there’s an idiotic snarky-ness rampant throughout the sections that it has become difficult to read. For instance, instead of trying to analyze Patrick Mohr’s recent runway show in Berlin, HP writes:

“Here at HuffPost Style, we have seen countless crazy catwalk looks...in fact, we just made a slideshow of the most outrageous ensembles at Haute Couture week. Each season, we watch as designers send out the good, the bad, the ugly, the heinous and the weird. But Patrick Mohr created the strangest runway collection we've ever seen. Period. Exclamation point! At Berlin Fashion Week, Mohr presented an otherwise pretty-wearable collection on bald, whiskered models. Take a look and tell us what you think.”

The headline reads: Patrick Mohr: CRAZIEST Runway Show EVER? (NSFW PHOTOS, POLL)

Right now, I’m concerned with the child labor laws HP must be breaking. Seriously, they’ve reduced this designer’s work to crazy and strange. They couldn’t even find the thesaurus to include “bizarre.”

Why are countless blogs more eloquently written than the online tabloid that is the Huffington Post? Is Arianna really so busy doing televised appearances and writing her own posts that she doesn’t realize how trashy her newspaper has become?

Le sigh. It’s really no use complaining. I’ll just have to start making the transition to other news sites. So far, I’m a fan of Salon.com, and I always have my various fashion sites…

I had to let that out!

Will somebody please fire and rehire that staff. Goodness!

And I included some old pictures of my favorite hat for good measure :-)
