Paris Fashion Week

I must admit. I haven’t really had the motivation to run over to the different shows to take pictures.

I think fashion has lost me somewhere. There’s something about the way the experts are pushing these new trends that just so happen to be trends from last season and seasons before that rub me the wrong way. After a period of time, a trend should become a staple. Dark red, plum and wine colored lipstick is not a staple, folks. Bright reds are also a staple. Put them in your makeup bag and commence!

The shows haven’t excited me either. I know Ready-to-Wear means just that most times. But I feel like I haven’t missed a beat. This was made painfully clear when I saw the pictures from Balmain. I have more then enough t-shirts to dye and cut and safety pin. At the same time there is a recession, I’m just not inspired by many of the designers who have shown.

And I’m worried. The looks put out by designers today are so easily duplicated by fast fashion, that there’s hardly a reason to lust. With Dries van Noten and Stella McCartney, I was given permission to truly rummage through my father’s closet. Now, neither of my parents are safe. I can continue to buy a few sizes up in the women’s section for that oversized look. Thanks…I guess.

There are some rays of sunshine, though! I’ll get into it later in the week when I actually have time to spend talking of such things. Right now, I should be studying for French and Law and Communications and…

Essentially, everything but fashion right now. I just want to take a long nap for about three days, and then I’ll be ready for the world.

AND I also need to do a post on Nuit Blanche in Paris! It was a fun night, that I’m sad only happens once a year. But there’s enough celebration in Paris to go around all year long!
