Lanvin x H&M Lipstick

I remember seeing a picture of Solange Knowles. She was the disc jockey for an event/party, but the story that featured her talked about her new job as the face for Rimmel Cosmetics. Two things struck me about this picture: She was wearing this rich dark purple-berry lipstick (should I just say “grape?”) and she was a DJ. Since then, I have wanted dark grape lipstick and to be a DJ.

I have not fulfilled my dream of being a renowned Parisian DJ, but I did recently acquire a lipstick that is very near in color to the one Solange wore.

This was the “Burgundy” lipstick featured in the Lanvin x H&M collection that was recently released. I haven’t really had the chance to wear it out, mostly because I’ve been a bit afraid of the color. It’s very bold, and without other makeup to accompany the lipstick, I feel a bit drained, like a zombie. And that’s not a good look now that Halloween has passed.

So I saw this picture of Alexandra Burke on The Fashion Bomb today sporting this dark lip. But I noticed that there seemed to be a pinkish tint to her lip, so I decided to try and combine my Lanvin lipstick with my MAC lip glass (Lychee Luxe). I’ve also wearing blush and mascara. I tried to go without blush, but again, the look of death comes over my face.

I do like this lipstick, but I’m still not sure where to wear it. I love bright lipsticks for nights out, so maybe this would be perfect for a dinner. Yes, I think I’ll save it for something like that. Or maybe I’ll be really obnoxious when I’m back in Atlanta and wear the most eccentric outfits and makeup. Fur hat, dark vampiric lipstick, faux fur coats…I’ll figure it out. Whatever fits in my suitcase.

In any case, since I do have earphones in, I was listening to Kylie Minogue’s album “Aphrodite.” I love it. But in a surprise, and perhaps embarrassing turn of events, I’m totally addicted to Diddy-Dirty Money’s song “Loving You No More.” It’s so good!DSC_1214

FINALS WEEK!

11 December 2010

In Paris, It snows.

I should say “A Paris, il neige.” But these little things aren’t important. I haven’t been in Paris for a legitimate snowing. This week, the snow actually stayed for a significant amount of time. It affected transportation and even delayed the arrival of a dress I ordered from Asos! (Will I get my money back?) But besides all of these things, Paris was beautiful with a blanket of snow covering it. I took some pictures, because I knew it wouldn’t last long.

The view from my floor:

This is my door.

The amazing Ayana who was willing to come with me to do my laundry. And also the cart that holds my laundry.

And as you can see from the pictures above and below, Ayana and I got matching faux fur hats to battle the cold weather. We both vowed to wear them in our respective American cities. Atlanta is not ready!

They also have Christmas trees in Paris. I really want to buy one, just for the sake of having a Christmas tree in my room.

Final exams are next week, and then I’ll be home in Atlanta on the 22nd of December, then returning to Paris on the 5th of January. I’m very excited to see all the people I’ve been missing this semester. I can’t imagine not spending the holidays with family and friends, so the 22nd cannot come soon enough. And it better not snow like it did this week. Because I’m not arriving any later than the 23rd. Truth.

I still cannot get over how beautiful the snow was. It has pretty much all melted away now. We’re back to a damp and cold Paris. Le sigh.
